I began teaching martial arts to children with disabilities (mobility disorders such as muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy; congenital skeletal defects) when I was 12 years old and have continued this to the present. I am very passionate about giving all children a chance to experience physical activity, and I take great pride in their improved self-confidence and physical health.
I became involved with Special Olympics events during high school and college, and during medical school I performed physical exams on the athletes at the events.
I volunteered at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Cancer Center for four years during college.
I volunteered and did extra medical electives in child abuse prevention at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia during medical school.
I served as a Big Brother to inner city boys in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters chapter of Philadelphia during medical school.
