Teaching science is one of my greatest passions. I pride myself on my ability to relate difficult topics to people of all levels and to enthrall people with the wonders of the natural world. I am a patient, positive, high-energy teacher, and I use a number of creative approaches to motivate students to gain a deep understanding of the subject matter. I enjoy the unique challenge of connecting the basic and clinical sciences, and my students learn to make these connections also.
I have served as a tutor for all basic science and clinical subjects, the U.S. Medical Licensing (USMLE) Step 1, Step 2, Step 3 exams, and National Board of Medical Examiners shelf exams since I was in medical school. I am one of only a small number of instructors around the world who can prepare medical students and doctors for all of these exams and achieve high scores.
In graduate school, I was a teaching assistant and then later co-course director for both cancer biology and infectious diseases. I was also a teaching assistant for cell and molecular biology and biochemistry courses.
In college, I was a tutor for: math (calculus 1/2, differential equations); physics (1/2, intro to quantum mechanics); chemistry (1/2, organic 1/2, biochemistry); biology (1/2, cell and molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, immunology); the SAT and MCAT exams.
